Professor Michel E. Abs

Michel E. Abs holds undergraduate and graduate qualifications in both economics and sociology, including a doctorate in sociology focused on economic behaviour. His university career spans nearly five decades alongside extensive experience in business, education and development management. At Saint Joseph University of Beirut he has taught, supervised doctoral research and contributed to research ethics, with interests centred on Christian presence and socioeconomic and sociocultural questions. His work with the Middle East Council of Churches began in the 1980s; he was elected Secretary General in 2020 and unanimously re-elected for a second term in 2024.
