The Church's Social, Economic, Educational and Humanitarian Responsibility (Part Two)

In this second part of the reflection, Secretary General Professor Michel Abs addresses three dimensions of the Church's responsibility. On the economic dimension, he writes that "money is not evil in itself, but it becomes dangerous when it turns into an absolute goal that enslaves humanity," citing the Gospel: "No one can serve two masters — God and money," and affirming that the Church is called to be a model of transparency, sound resource management and the defense of workers' rights. On the educational dimension, he stresses that Christian education is not only the teaching of doctrines but the formation of "a living conscience that lives the Gospel in daily life," calling on the Church to offer authentic role models at a time when young people are shaped by digital influencers. On the humanitarian dimension, he begins from the truth that the human person is "created in the image and likeness of God," and that the Church's service to the sick, the poor and refugees is not mere charity but a revelation of God's merciful face. The text closes by describing these responsibilities as "different expressions of one mission: serving humanity and glorifying God through love."
