From Hell… Live Broadcast

A personal message in which the Secretary General describes daily life in Lebanon during the region's disguised war as close to hell: shelters crowded with displaced people now numbering a quarter of Lebanon's population, congested and dangerous roads, hospitals overwhelmed with war casualties, and bombardment warnings mixed with rumours. The text links the economic crisis, the stripping of resources and social fragmentation to a political scene deprived of sovereignty, and closes by holding onto hope: "Take courage! I am He. Do not be afraid."
